blah blah

I re-shot my last interview last night, so I am completely done filming. Now I can focus on editing. Sweet. I'll bring my camera to class today so we can capture our titles. Later.

again

I just got finished capturing everything I have filmed so far in the computer lab, and unfortunately, I am going to have to reshoot all of the interviews I have done because you can barely hear the voices of the interviewees. This sucks, but it's not that bad because after reviewing the footage of the interviews, I now know what I want to get from each person so I will have spend less time sifting through the things they said. Also, I think my film will focus in on personal meanings of the color blue as well as its larger connotations, as almost every person I interviewed was reminded of a memory or some personal aspect of their lives by the color blue. Besides the interviews, I am pretty close to having all the footage I need to begin editing. Even though it is getting pretty close to the due date, I am pretty confident that I can get this thing finished.

status

Going into this weekend I was pretty stressed out about this project, as I did not think that I had as much done as I should have. Also, I had a mini-crisis yesterday when I thought that my roommate's camera (with everything I have filmed thus far on the tape) had gotten stolen out of my open car window. Fortunately, after five minutes of freaking out, I remembered that I had not left the camera in my car, and that I had brought the camera inside my friend's apartment. I am starting to feel better about my status on this project, as I got a lot done yesterday and I have nothing to do today except work on this project. Hopefully we can actually meet tomorrow after class and get our titles done.

dot dot dot

I've been working on this project a lot the past two days, and I finally have a pretty clear vision of what I want my final film/documentary/whatever to look like. I want to take people's reactions/feelings towards blue and see how these reactions/feelings are used in marketing. I've noticed a couple products that use blue extensively in packaging and adverstising: beer, cleaning products, men's personal hygiene products, and vacation and traveling magazines. I've also been working on some animations using ripped up magazine pieces, and it is verrrry tedious. See y'all in class tomorrow.

Titles

Like I did in my "Concept in 60" short, I plan on using non-computer generated titles in this project. For the most part, I find computer generated titles to be pretty boring, and I feel like there is a greater opportunity to get creative in creating physical titles and filming them.

Music Selection

This is the MySpace for my friends' band, The Barn Owls, that I plan on using in my film. I'd describe their music as psychedelic/ambient and I feel that their music could convey the feelings associated to a particular color pretty well. I haven't really listened to their whole music catalog yet, so I plan on tracking down their CDs to find a song that I want to use.
